Takumi Precision Engineering are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Operator/Setter to join our precision manufacturing team. You will be instrumental in producing high-quality, intricate components
for demanding industries such as medical device and aerospace. This role requires experience in setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathes. The ideal candidate will have Swiss turning
experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Machine Operation & Setup: Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC lathes (Tornos, Deco, Doosan.
* Drawing Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
* Quality Control: Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, callipers, depth gauges, and pin gauges etc. to ensure parts meet required tolerances.
* Tool Management: Select, install, adjust, and replace cutting tools and inserts as needed to maintain efficiency and quality standards.
* Troubleshooting & Adjustments: Monitor machine operations, detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, and make necessary adjustments to machine controls and offsets to resolve issues.
* Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines, such as cleaning, oiling, and following manufacturer's instructions to ensure optimal performance.
* Documentation: Complete all necessary production and quality logs and reports accurately.
* Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience: A minimum of [e.g., 2-5] years of experience operating and setting up CNC lathes in a precision environment is required.
* Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials (metals, plastics, etc.).
* Programming (Preferred): Familiarity with G-code and M-code programming and the ability to perform minor program edits at the machine control level is a plus.
* Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, precise work.
* Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve machining issues effectively.
* Education: A technical certification or associate degree in machining or a related field is highly desirable.
* Skills: Swiss lathe experience is highly desirable.
* Soft Skills: A proactive approach, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong communication skills are essential.
