Security Systems Lead – Role Overview
Reporting to the National Security Manager, the Security Systems Lead is a key member of the Security Team and is responsible for managing security assets, equipment and systems for Uisce Éireann. The Security team protects commercial and operational sites, including manned guarding, security management, system installation, maintenance, and repair.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Manage security equipment and systems nationally in commercial buildings and operational sites.
Manage assets and electronic systems including CCTV, intruder detection, PID, access control, electronic key management, automated gates, electronic roller shutters, etc.
Establish and maintain a robust governance framework for technical security systems, including standards, policies, audit processes, and compliance reporting aligned to CER Directive, critical infrastructure and regulatory requirements.
Manage and direct third‑party resources to deliver projects from conception, design, installation to commissioning and handover in line with Uisce Éireann risk assessment framework.
Ensure all sites are monitored with escalation and response procedures reporting to the SOC.
Drive standardisation and assurance across all sites, conduct periodic compliance reviews, and address gaps through improvement plans.
Ensure delivery of security equipment and system services within OPEX and CAPEX budgets and manage risks to budgets with necessary approvals.
Develop and present papers to Expenditure Approval Committees for spend and contract authorisation.
Liaise with Regional Asset Operational teams to ensure technical security services meet business demands.
Liaise with local authority staff including senior engineers and supervisors.
Develop and implement integrated security solutions for central and remote monitoring of buildings and sites.
Create a centralised asset protection programme for assets and systems.
Procure national security frameworks for operational sites.
Implement SLAs for servicing and maintenance; ensure contingency response for out‑of‑hours and critical failures.
Act as key interface with security suppliers for planned, reactive and emergent activities, ensuring safe, effective, and efficient service.
Ensure HSQE requirements are in place: safety statements, method statements, risk assessments, and permits for all maintenance and project works.
Implement technical training and development plans.
Develop maintenance metrics and KPIs; report and track monthly.
Develop and manage security software strategy for integrated systems (access control, IDS, CCTV, PID, key management).
Investigate new technologies to promote continuous improvement, e.g., advanced video analytics.
Ensure compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.
Attend meetings with senior management and act as point of contact for escalations.
Participate in the on‑call rotation for security management if required.
Other duties as assigned from time to time.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
Promote and deliver health and safety commitments across UÉ and supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and meeting high industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation‑wide objectives.
Conduct duties in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s information security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, in line with NIS Directive and other relevant cybersecurity regulations.
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Relevant third‑level qualification in Security, Engineering, Business or similar.
Minimum 5‑7 years’ experience in a maintenance management role.
Experience managing a team.
Experience delivering security projects (desirable).
Excellent presentation skills.
Proven experience delivering best‑in‑class maintenance programs across multiple sites.
Management of third‑party contractors.
Familiarity with tendering processes.
Proven experience in system mobilisation and training.
Proven experience with security software integration on multiple platforms.
Previous experience initiating and maintaining strategic relationships both internally and externally, using influencing skills to achieve business goals.
Ability to coach technical skill development in others.
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, generating innovative technical solutions.
Understanding of business operations and commercial viability and impact of technical decisions.
High standards for individual, team and organisational achievement.
Proven track record dealing with complex issues proactively and timely, with ability to communicate complex information.
Full driver’s licence.
