Production Manager – Whey Plant (Membranes)
Location: Ballyragget – Whey Plant. Reports to the Whey Plant Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Promote & implement best practice Health & Safety procedures in line with Tirlán’s Zero Harm policies.
Adhere to product safety and legality standards, in line with our Quality Management System.
Produce highest quality product to meet agreed customer and product specifications.
Collaborate with the Commercial team in planning and implementing customer requirements, aligned with overall plant KPIs.
Resolve deviations in Whey plant metrics with robust CAPA.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure governance & compliance of incoming process streams, in line with KPIs.
Ensure production targets (throughput, yields, recoveries) are met.
Oversee plant intake & dispatch streams to safeguard plant quality, while ensuring processing continuity of upstream plants.
Champion a collaborative team environment and mentor new hires to deliver an effective and efficient workforce within the Whey Plant.
Identify and implement process improvements that yield maximum benefits to the business using lean manufacturing principles, within our Business Excellence approach. Actively participate in innovation and improvement projects for production methods/processes.
Promote and drive an on‑site culture that maximises employee engagement through our ways of working.
Act as an effective communicator and implementer of change within the plant.
Comply with all HR policies and procedures in dealing with staff issues.
Key Requirements
2–3 years of management experience in the Food, Pharmaceutical or Beverage manufacturing sector, ideally with products used in sensitive or specialist customer applications.
Ability to work to tight deadlines with excellent planning and scheduling skills.
Aptitude for operational processes, working with cross‑functional teams, Lean and continuous improvement.
Demonstrated high technical ability and attention to detail to achieve high level of accomplishment.
Computer literate (Microsoft Office suite and working knowledge of SAP). Working knowledge of IQS/MES is an advantage.
Strong communication skills with multi‑functional stakeholders.
Knowledge of dairy products, processes and recipes is an advantage.
