Maintenance Fitter Location: Cork Sector: Heavy Industry / HGV An established industrial employer in North Cork is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join its on-site maintenance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served mechanical professional to work in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment where reliability, safety, and continuous improvement are key.
The Role Working as part of a dedicated maintenance function, the Maintenance Fitter will support the smooth and efficient operation of plant and equipment across the site.
The role involves fault diagnosis, planned preventative maintenance, and rapid response to breakdowns, with a strong emphasis on health & safety and minimising downtime.
The successful candidate will work closely with production and maintenance colleagues to ensure machinery performance is optimised and operational issues are resolved efficiently.
Key Responsibilities Act as a role model for safe working practices and promote a strong safety culture Use risk assessments to develop and review safe systems of work Promote health, safety, and environmental awareness among colleagues and contractors Maintenance & Reliability Carry out mechanical maintenance across all plant areas Perform inspections, fault diagnosis, repairs, and installations Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency call-outs Complete planned preventative maintenance (weekly, monthly, and longer-term checks) Maintain accurate documentation, including maintenance logs and equipment changes Support root cause analysis and incident follow-up activities Communication & Teamwork Liaise closely with production teams to ensure equipment readiness Communicate effectively with site management and maintenance colleagues Contribute to a positive team culture and support wider operational goals Candidate Requirements Time-served Maintenance Fitter with a relevant qualification (e.g.
Mechanical Automation, Maintenance Manufacturing, Toolmaking, or similar) Minimum 5 years' experience in heavy plant or industrial environments Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills Experience working with planned preventative maintenance systems Analytical and problem-solving capability with a proactive mindset Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Good literacy and numeracy skills Proficiency in English Comfortable working indoors and outdoors year-round in a fast-paced setting Key Competencies Results-focused and safety-driven Strong planning and organisational skills Ability to use initiative and make effective decisions Continuous improvement mindset Only candidates who currently hold valid right to work in Ireland will be considered for this role.
