Meet the team
RTÉ Finance comprises a centralised Group Finance function responsible for financial control & certain central Shared Services including Payroll, Fees, Accounts Receivable, Treasury Management, Accounts Payable, Pensions and Procurement, Tax, Management Information, Finance Transformation & Projects.
There are divisional finance teams across key business units which report functionally on all financial, accounting and reporting matters to the Chief Financial Officer, and on operational matters to the Head of Division.
We are looking for a qualified financial accountant to join our Group Finance team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious financial accountant looking to build their career in a dynamic and varied Group Finance Function.
You will have direct exposure to the Head of Finance and CFO and work closely with senior members of finance to develop and enhance the group finance function.
Reporting to the Financial Controller you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial operations of the business while contributing to strategic decision-making and financial excellence.
This position is ideal for a qualified accountant with two years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained within a professional services firm or with previous Group Finance experience.
About the role
The Group Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate and timely consolidated financial reporting for the Group, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies.
The role supports statutory & regulatory reporting, group-wide financial controls, budgeting processes and finance projects.
Key Responsibilities
Group Financial Reporting
Prepare month end reconciliations and analysis on key Balance Sheet accounts
Complete all month end allocated tasks and review with Group Financial Controller
Complete analysis & commentary on key account movements & changes
Support Group Finance with year-end close process
Technical Accounting & Compliance
Ensure compliance with IFRS and accounting policies
Research and implement new accounting standards and advise on implications for the Group.
Prepare accounting papers & technical analysis as required
Liaise with external auditors and support audit processes
Financial Controls & Governance
Support the design and implementation of strong financial controls across the Group.
Review subsidiary balance sheets and reconciliations.
Support intercompany accounting, reconciliation, and eliminations
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
Assist with group budget and forecasting cycles
Provide insights and analysis on group performanceSupport business planning activities and financial modelling as required
Treasury & Tax Support
Assist in group cash flow reporting and forecasting
Support tax compliance across all tax heads working with internal & external stakeholders
Projects & Business Support
Contribute to finance transformation initiatives, system implementations, or process improvements
Provide financial expertise to business units as required
Provide direct financial analysis and strategic input to the Head of Finance & CFO on finance related matters
Support important Strategic and Governance projects e.g., property investment, transition to C&AG audit, liaison with New Era and government departments
Seek out and present opportunities for continuous improvement & enhanced automation within the Group Finance function
About you
Qualified accountant with a recognised accounting body, and a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
First rate analytical skills with a sound understanding of the commercial impact of the reported figures
Highly articulate, influential with exceptional presentation and communication skills
Excellent numerical ability
Highly motivated and deadline driven
Advanced Excel & data analytical skills
Ability to project and process manage with strong attention to detail, problem solving and negotiation skills
Systems & IT: Experience with scoping, developing & implementing new financial systems would be beneficial
Prior experience of any of media, property transactions, C&AG and other public sector relationships desirable but not essential

This appointment will be made at the Assistant Accountant grade and is being offered on a full-time ongoing contract basis.
The salary scale for this grade is from €51,303 to €68,220 gross per annum.
