Role Overview
We're currently seeking a skilled and passionate Sous Chef to support our kitchen team at The Old Orchard Inn. This full-time role offers an hourly wage of €18 – €20, depending on experience, and is perfect for someone ready to help lead a busy kitchen in delivering delicious, well-crafted dishes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the kitchen during service, ensuring dishes are prepared to exacting standards
* Assist the Head Chef in menu development, prep planning, and daily operations
* Oversee junior kitchen staff training, mentoring, and supporting them through service
* Maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and portion sizing
* Uphold rigorous food safety, hygiene, and HACCP protocols
* Help manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and cost control
* Stay calm under pressure and foster team spirit during busy shifts
Qualifications
* Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar kitchen or supervisory role
* Strong culinary skills with an eye for detail and quality
* Proven ability to mentor and lead junior staff in a fast-paced setting
* Solid knowledge of food safety and kitchen cleanliness standards
* Positive, solution-focused attitude
* Previous experience working in Ireland essential
* Fluent English and references required
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and seasonal shifts
