Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council performs a significant role in shaping the strategic vision of the County.
It provides a diverse, comprehensive and evolving range of services to citizens, businesses and visitors to the County which include the provision of housing, planning, development, environmental, transportation, leisure and community services.
The council has 40 elected members and approximately 1300 staff.
It was established in 1994 and is located between the outer suburbs of Dublin City and the Dublin mountains; with its 17km of coastline, harbour, attractive towns and villages alongside communities where residents and visitors enjoy some of the best natural amenities in Ireland.

Senior Executive Engineers are responsible for the efficient management of staff and the work programme of the directorates/department and function to which they are assigned.
The Senior Executive Engineer will be required to lead a team or teams and to provide technical and managerial support across all local authority service areas and to liaise with external agencies and support the democratic process.
They will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Elected Members to deliver the full range of services, implement local policy decisions, manage capital projects and deliver on strategic corporate objectives.
About You:
The ideal candidate shall have the following skills and experience:
An ability to successfully work through the challenges of delivering significant programmes of investment in designated locations.
The management and supervision of staff, ensuring the development of such staff.
Building and leading effective multi-disciplined teams, developing motivation and commitment, empowering and encouraging personnel to achieve maximum performance while maintaining sound employee relations and morale.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage successfully with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, elected representatives, the public and the media.
A strong track record and relevant management ethos and experience at a sufficiently high level, including strategic planning, management of change and project management.
An ability to develop and implement processes/systems, set targets, and coordinate the resources necessary to support operational services.
Preparation of reports for submission to statutory agencies and other bodies where required.
An understanding of the role and duties of line managers and an ability to work through the structure to achieve management objectives in the workplace.
A strong, outward looking perspective and a track record of successful interagency collaboration and co-ordination.
A good working knowledge of the legal, regulatory and governance framework within which the Council operates and experience in adhering to corporate policies, protocols, and procedures.
A good working knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and its application within the local authority.
A satisfactory knowledge of the public service organisation in Ireland.
