Advanced Specialist Pharmacist (Oncology/Haematology) - Waterford
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team in Waterford, Ireland as an Advanced Specialist Pharmacist, specializing in Oncology/Haematology.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* To prioritize the care and safety of patients at all times.
* To model and promote the hospital's core values: Quality and Safety, Dignity and Respect, Caring and Listening, Responsibility and Integrity, Excellence and Innovation.
* To lead and manage the provision of pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy services to the Haematology/Oncology day ward and inpatient wards.
* To be competent in the use and administration of the Oncology/Haematology clinical information system (ARIA).
* To stay updated on best practices and competency frameworks for Oncology/Haematology pharmacy services.
* To review Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) protocols within the hospital.
* To manage new anti-cancer medications safely and cost-effectively.
* To take a lead role in SACT medicine stock shortages management.
* To assist with expanded access or compassionate use programmes.
* To collaborate with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to optimize SACT workflows.
* To contribute to clinical guideline development.
* To identify and address medication management system deficiencies.
* To highlight discrepancies, incidents, or deficits to senior staff.
* To provide expert support to Finance and Hospital leadership in managing the drugs budget.
* To identify drug budget savings with the MDT.
* To participate in multidisciplinary meetings and committees as required.
* To act as a leader and role model.
* To build partnerships to develop services that meet patient needs.
* To propose and manage innovation and technological improvements in the Oncology/Haematology Pharmacy service.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland or entitlement to registration.
* At least 4 years of satisfactory post-registration hospital experience.
* Specialized knowledge and ability for proper discharge of duties.
* Broad clinical pharmacy experience and line management experience.
* Experience in Aseptic Compounding Unit and/or haematology/oncology unit(s).
* Previous experience working within Cancer specialities at a senior level.
* Ongoing Continuing Professional Development and role-specific learning.
* Comprehensive knowledge of National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP).
Ability to Demonstrate:
* Excellent planning, organisational and resource management skills.
* Excellent leadership, interpersonal and people management skills.
* Experience in change management and quality improvement initiatives.
Desirable Criteria:
* Formal management and leadership training or equivalent experience.
* Experience in Good Clinical Practice.
* A further qualification such as a post-graduate diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy.
