Vickerstock are working in partnership with a forward-thinking, purpose-driven food business to recruit a Sustainability Officer.This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving sustainability initiatives and environmental improvements across the organisation. You will help shape the company's sustainability strategy, delivering impactful projects that reduce environmental impact while supporting operational excellence.In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable practices across products, operations, and supply chains, while promoting a culture of environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.In your new role:Develop, implement, and monitor sustainability strategies and initiatives across the businessLead decarbonisation and other key sustainability projectsConduct environmental impact assessments and identify opportunities for improvementCollect, analyse, and report on sustainability data and environmental performance metricsCollaborate with operational, product, and supply chain teams to integrate sustainable practicesEngage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment with sustainability objectivesStay informed on industry trends, innovations, and environmental regulationsSupport quality and compliance activities, contributing to continuous improvement initiativesWhat you will need to succeed:Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, environmental science, or a related fieldDemonstrable passion for sustainability and knowledge of sustainable practicesStrong analytical and data management skills, with experience tracking and reporting environmental metricsExcellent organisational and project management skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively across teamsStrong communication and interpersonal skills to engage stakeholders effectivelyInnovative mindset with strong problem-solving abilitiesDesirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):Experience implementing sustainability initiatives or environmental management systems in a food or manufacturing environmentKnowledge of environmental legislation, certifications, or industry standardsInvolvement in decarbonisation or carbon footprint reduction projectsFamiliarity with quality systems and regulatory compliance frameworks
