Community Credit Union (CCU) was formed in **** through the merger of Clonsilla and Premier Credit Unions.
Following subsequent mergers with West Cabra Credit Union in ****, Rowlagh and Blanchardstown and District Credit Union ****, the credit union now has a membership base of 70,000 and total assets of just under 300m.
We are currently recruiting for a Credit Control Officer.
The Credit Control Officer will form part of the credit control team and implement effective credit control decisions and plans under the guidance and direction of their line manager.
The Credit Control Officer will assist in ensuring that credit control risks in the lending portfolio are identified and assessed, then managed and mitigated to an acceptable tolerance level as set out by the Board of Directors.
The Credit Control Officer will report to the Credit Control Team Lead and is responsible for the progressive implementation of Community Credit Unions credit control policy and procedures.
The role requires the Credit Control Officer to minimise the number of accounts in arrears, whilst acting in a professional manner and working effectively to ensure that members experiencing financial difficulty or in arrears are supported and financial losses to the credit union are minimised.
The Credit Control Officer will be required to comply with key operational aspects of the credit union and their duties and responsibilities will include: Minimising costs to the credit union by aiming to reduce arrears Contacting members who are in arrears or pre-arrears & taking payments over the phone &/or setting up recurring debit card payments on Scion Updating members records on Scion systems as appropriate & actioning theDelmain programme status for members in arrears or pre-arrears.
Managing the Delmain day-to-day processes, i.e phone calls, texts & letters to members in arrears or pre-arrears Assisting members in arrears to manage their credit union accounts more effectively and efficiently, to the mutual benefit of Community Credit Union and the member Be familiar with and fully versant in credit control policy and procedures Putting temporary arrangements in place for members, where necessary, and monitoring adherence.
Rescheduling members, where necessary, and in line with regulatory requirements Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements Furnishing regular updates on accounts at a legal status&liaising with Debt Collection agents or legal advisors, as required Preparing and forwarding files for legal action Attending and supporting the credit control committee as requiredTL Help with the preparation of relevant information for credit control committee or Board meetings.
Assisting the Team Lead in assessing, developing, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing the credit control processes and procedures in the credit union, including: Recommending improvements to the credit control policy and procedures Adhering to agreed credit control procedures Reviewing the reasons for non-performing loans and providing feedback to improve lending quality Complying with the operational requirements of the credit control process including: The credit control process The management of relationships with members in default complaint resolution Assisting in the implementation and monitoring of the systems and controls required in the credit function, as outlined by: The Risk Management Officer The Compliance Officer The Internal Audit Function The above list is not exhaustive and may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business.
Qualifications and Experience APA qualified or working towards Other Credit Control or Credit Union-specific qualifications Previous experience in a Credit Union or other financial services is desirable Experience dealing with vulnerable members and applying ethical, member-centred approaches.
Skills and Responsibilities Excellent communication, listening, and negotiation skills with a compassionate approach.
Proficiency in credit control systems and Microsoft Excel.
High level of accuracy, organisation, and analytical capability.
Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple priorities effectively.
Member-focused and committed to Credit Union values.
Empathetic, patient, and supportive when dealing with members experiencing financial difficulty.
Confident decision-maker with strong integrity and fairness.
Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.
