With a strong, values-driven workforce, we ensure Uisce Éireann can continue advancing Ireland’s water services and meeting the needs of the communities we serve for generations to come.The Role:The Water Network Management team, within Asset Management and Sustainability, has accountability for the management of the water network, including leakage management planning and prioritisation and leakage data and systems management in order to target leakage reduction activities. A key capability of the Water Network Management team centres around the management of the UÉ metering asset base, including the delivery of metering activities in the field e.g. meter replacement, reading, and the management of metering data, the delivery of the metering strategy, policies and codes of practice and the alignment and development of the commercial models required to support end-to-end metering services.The Metering Service team will lead the management of all field related metering activities such as meter installations, commissioning and validation, meter monitoring and analysis, fault diagnosis and repair, meter exchange and validation, meter reading and customer bill query resolution.The Metering Senior Field Engineer will report to the Metering Services Manager, and an overview of the duties are listed below:Manage the team in relation to meter reading, meter maintenance and ad-hoc meter replacement activitiesReport to the Metering Services Manager and prepare quarterly asset status reports on the activities of the teamManages, direct and develop the field team to build the required capability in the resolution of metering issues. Protect Uisce Éireann’s reputation by ensuring such issues, events and complaints are minimised through timely intervention and / or resolutionManage the review of results of periodic meter reading cycles, challenging and analysing the information to design and implement programmes to investigate skip codes to ensure that meter reading functionality is maintained across the asset classResponsible for supporting operational changes to the management of metering field operational activities including customer and efficiency initiatives to support with wider cultural changeAssist other UÉ teams with measures required to investigate fraud or criminal damage to meter assets, including acting in the role of Exhibits OfficerLiaise with other UÉ business units in metering matters relating to new connections, disconnections, reconnections, and taking in charge of estates or schemesLiaise with Metering Policies and Commercial team to develop programmes to audit and benchmark the condition of any meter assets (including non-domestic) that are to be taken in charge by UÉEstablish approach to store meter replacements and any other meter ancillary items that may be required, including managing stock and critical meter assetsDevelop, in conjunction with the Asset Operations: Workflow team, the optimal approach to scheduling of efficient and effective field-based work to Metering Field EngineersReport on audit findings and failures in accordance with UÉ quality and safety standards and guidelinesGeneral Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ businessResponsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.Provide visible leadership for your team, coaching and developing them to achieve their full potential and deliver business objectives, promoting collaboration and highlighting the behaviours that are expected from everyone in the team.Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann’s Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information, and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.Other duties as required.Knowledge, Skills and Experience:Relevantthird level qualification and or accreditation is desirable and or relevant experienceA minimum of 5 years Experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirableExperience of managing end-to end processes and developing teams to ensure delivery meets customer expectationDemonstrated people management experience, guiding a team to work together and offer support to make the right decisionsExperience of monitoring adherence to policies and controls and leading teams to work to the highest ethical and professional standardsDemonstrated experience of influencing teams to aim for and achieve high standards by setting clear goals and direction in line with business strategyAbility to be a strong advocate for safety and wellbeing practices and ensure these are constantly being followed within your teamThe closing date for receipt of applications for this vacancy is 27/03/2026 .Please note that applications submitted after this closing date will not be accepted.Please note that if successful you will be placed on the salary range based on your skills and experience.
