Regional Health & Safety Officer Cork Region A leading construction contractor is seeking an experienced, self-driven Regional Health & Safety Officer to oversee safety performance across four active sites in the Cork area.
This role requires a confident professional with solid construction H&S experience who can work independently, manage multiple projects, and influence site teams to maintain the highest safety standards.
The successful candidate will support the safe delivery of residential, commercial, educational, and life sciences projects, working closely with site teams, Contracts Managers, and the wider HSEQ function.
Key Responsibilities Site Safety Leadership Lead regular site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks across all Cork-based projects.
Identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and non-compliance, ensuring timely corrective actions.
Conduct and review risk assessments, method statements, and pre-task planning.
Compliance & Reporting Ensure full compliance with Irish construction H&S legislation and internal procedures.
Maintain accurate site documentation including RAMS, safety statements, incident reports, and audit records.
Lead incident and near-miss investigations and implement corrective action plans.
Training & Safety Culture Deliver site inductions, briefings, and ongoing training to staff and subcontractors.
Promote a positive, proactive safety culture through coaching and visible leadership.
Support the development and mentoring of junior safety personnel where required.
Coordination & Communication Work closely with Contracts Managers, Site Managers, and the central HSEQ team to ensure consistent standards across all Cork sites.
Liaise with external auditors, insurers, and regulatory bodies.
Attend project meetings and contribute to safety planning and performance reviews.
Requirements NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 8 qualification (Construction Safety preferred).
Minimum 5+ years experience in a construction H&S role, ideally with a main contractor.
Strong working knowledge of Irish construction regulations and HSA requirements.
Proven ability to work independently and manage H&S priorities across multiple live sites.
Skilled in incident investigation, auditing, and site-based safety leadership.
Excellent communication, influencing, and organisational skills.
Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and CIF Safety Officer qualification (or equivalent).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, Hammer Tech or similar platforms is an advantage.
