Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our project team on a major educational development in Letterkenny. Working for a Tier 1 main contractor, the successful candidate will play a key role in setting out, quality control, coordination with subcontractors, and ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest standard.
This is a site-based role offering exposure to a high-profile public-sector project with significant technical and coordination requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting out and surveying works using GPS, Total Station, and traditional methods
* Managing day-to-day engineering activities on site in line with drawings and specifications
* Ensuring works comply with design, Irish Building Regulations, BCAR requirements, and project quality standards
* Reviewing drawings, specifications, and method statements; raising RFIs where required
* Coordinating with subcontractors, design teams, and site management
* Maintaining accurate site records, as-built drawings, and quality documentation
* Assisting with inspections, snagging, and handover processes
* Supporting health & safety compliance in conjunction with the site management team
* Monitoring progress against the programme and reporting issues proactively
Requirements
* Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related discipline
* 2+ years' experience in a Site Engineer role (experience on educational or public-sector projects advantageous)
* Experience working with a main contractor on medium to large-scale projects
* Strong setting-out and surveying skills
* Working knowledge of Irish construction regulations and standards
* Excellent communication and coordination skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team
* Full, clean driving licence
Desirable
* Experience working with Tier 1 contractors
* Familiarity with BCAR processes and documentation
* Experience on educational, healthcare, or other public works projects
