We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical systems for data centres, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
Overview of the Role
As a key member of our engineering team, you will design electrical infrastructure for data centres, including power distribution, backup systems, and emergency power supply systems.
* Design electrical infrastructure for data centres, including power distribution, backup systems, and emergency power supply systems.
* Conduct load calculations and power analysis to ensure the efficient operation of electrical systems within data centres.
* Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to develop integrated designs that meet operational requirements.
* Develop detailed electrical system specifications, including one-line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings using CAD software.
* Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., NEC, IEEE, Uptime Institute).
* Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, equipment specifications, and installation guidelines.
* Evaluate and select electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and generators, for data centre applications.
* Participate in site assessments and feasibility studies to identify opportunities for optimisation and efficiency improvements.
* Collaborate with construction teams to oversee the installation and commissioning of electrical systems.
* Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
* A minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on data centre design and operations, is necessary.
* Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, including power distribution systems, grounding, and lightning protection, is essential.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and electrical design tools is required.
* Familiarity with data centre architecture, cooling systems, and redundancy principles is beneficial.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail, are necessary.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, are essential.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
* Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
* Experience with data centre design certifications, such as Tier certifications from the Uptime Institute, is desirable.
* Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and renewable energy solutions is beneficial.
* Familiarity with critical power analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools) is advantageous.
