Dairygold Co-Operative Society Ltd invites applications for the position of Practical Gardening Coordinator. Reporting to the Retail Lead Buyer, this role involves being part of the Buying Team at our Lombardstown HQ, with responsibilities including supplier visits, store visits, trade shows, and meetings. The role requires proactive, energetic, professional, and discreet work, with a focus on attention to detail and direct reporting to the Retail Buyer. The main goal is to support growth, achieve budgets, and implement key initiatives for the Practical Gardening category.


Responsibilities


Customer Focus (We Focus on our Customers)

* Coordinate and manage the promotional calendar, including Plant of the Month and multi-buy offers.
* Support planning and implementation of Seeds and Bulb sub-groups for key selling periods.
* Develop a range of plants and shrubs to boost sales and profitability during the Autumn period.
* Monitor stock levels of core and seasonal products.
* Manage the e-commerce offering for Plants & Shrubs, including Bedding Plants and Christmas ranges, ensuring accurate data and images.


Driving for Results (We are Honest & Accountable)

* Develop and expand sales and variety opportunities from Dutch, UK, and other EU growers, especially for Autumn/Winter, Christmas, and Irish-grown products.
* Coordinate and manage planting requirements for stores for the 2025 season.
* Maximize supplier support for store write-offs.
* Review and track sales, margin, and stock performance of relevant product groups.


People (We Care & We Grow Together)

* Maintain excellent communication with stores, suppliers, buying, and other departments such as Marketing, Accounts Payable, and Finance.
* Participate actively in weekly performance reviews and garden team meetings, providing updates and content.
* Collaborate with Marketing on promotional products, pricing, and images.


Processes (We Find a Better Way)

* Ensure high-quality products are available to delight customers, including regular supplier inspections.
* Assist in procurement of garden accessories such as pots, planters, and accessories.
* Place and track purchase orders.
* Maintain and update product catalogues and descriptions on the retail website.


Candidate Requirements

* Relevant experience in a similar role.
* Purchasing or business administration qualification.
* Deep knowledge of garden plants and seasonal sales periods, with ability to work cross-departmentally.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Experience with business intelligence tools for performance analysis.
* Previous experience in Agriculture/Retail, with product knowledge in relevant categories preferred.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Self-motivated, flexible, and able to influence at all organizational levels.
