Health and Safety Officer - Cairn Homes
Cairn has a unique opportunity for a high-calibre Health and Safety Officer to manage health and safety on our residential construction site in Shankill. This role involves implementing the Cairn Homes safety management system and reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager. We seek an experienced, motivated team player with keen commercial acumen to contribute to the successful delivery of our project.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work with the Cairn Homes Construction management team to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
2. Continuously improve health and safety standards within the company management system and on site.
3. Monitor and enforce the Cairn Homes Health & Safety Management System.
4. Identify site-specific hazards and ensure they are addressed in documentation and practically on site.
5. Maintain clear communication lines with the H&S Manager.
6. Ensure site folders and statutory records are properly maintained.
7. Enforce site rules among all contractors.
8. Assist site management in complying with statutory H&S requirements.
9. Support the development and implementation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
10. Ensure contractor compliance on Cairn Homes sites.
11. Coordinate safe work systems for contractors and enforce disciplinary procedures.
12. Conduct H&S audits and address non-conformances.
13. Participate in accident and incident investigations.
14. Contribute to toolbox talks and identify training needs for personnel and contractors.
The Candidate:
* Minimum 4 years’ experience managing safety systems in construction, with a qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Member of IOSH preferred.
* Ability to manage health and safety on-site proactively within the management system.
* Strong relationship-building skills across project stakeholders and statutory bodies.
* Risk management and control measures implementation skills.
* Ability to build relationships with diverse contractors.
* Proficiency in chairing and delivering H&S meetings and presentations.
