The Role:
Uisce Éireann IT (UÉ IT) provides IT services and support to the wider Uisce Éireann business. IT Applications and Service Operations is responsible for all operational run activities across all Applications and Service Management areas.
The Enterprise Applications (EA) Team are responsible for implementing, upgrading and managing systems supporting Financial Operations, HR and Payroll, Enterprise Content Management, Middleware and the Software Development Lifecycle. These systems support over one billion euro in investment each year, a large permanent workforce, a large contingent workforce, thousands of projects, millions of documents and hundreds of thousands of transaction per annum. All EA teams have a pivotal role to play in business as usual and project delivery of new and upgraded systems as well as working collaboratively with the other UÉ IT groups and business stakeholders.
Reporting to the Enterprise Applications Manager the Financial Applications Technical Specialist role is responsible for the Management, Development, Modification and Maintenance of financial processes and associated systems including Oracle E-Business Suite, Hyperion, Kofax, Markview, Treasury and Tax applications. The role is exciting, technically challenging, and rewarding with opportunities for cross training, upskilling and diversification within the EA Team, IT Operations and the broader IT group.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Develop and drive a strong context and understanding of the key capabilities an business processes which the technology is supporting
* Lead engagement with the business stakeholders to ensure their requirements are understood and delivered to meet a changing business landscape.
* Oversee and support IT operational activities to ensure smooth and efficient running of the IT financial system applications.
* Build and maintain expertise in all the business process and functional requirements supported by all the applications within the scope of this role and work closely with business users to improve and streamline processes.
* Lead, coach, support and motivate junior team members.
* Responsible for ensuring the design, architecture, build and testing of new systems for both business as usual and project initiatives are aligned to business, operational and technical requirements
* Management of multiple external vendors, contractors and IT Managed Service providers
* Management of software version management and patching of applications within the scope of the role
* Lead Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery planning and testing for applications within the scope of the role.
* Manage the resolution of Incidents and Problems impacting business operations supported by all applications in the role scope and align with internal ITL standards
* Support with management of both Capex and Opex budgets.
* Support with management of the Development and Maintenance teams, in relation to change requests, incidents and also Project requirements.
* Keep abreast of industry trends and undertake technical training to maintain skills currency.
* Secondment to IT project teams as necessary and engagement with the Design & Strategy, Build & Delivery, Business Change teams.
* Provide out-of-hours cover as part of the Standby Rota as required.
* Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
* Relevant third level IT qualification and or accreditation is desirable
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable and or relevant experience
* Experience in managing end-to-end processes to ensure delivery meets customer expectations
* Demonstrable experience to continuously developing and improving ways of working and points of escalation for customers
* Ability to develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders internally and externally and offer guidance and support to make the right decisions
* Proven track record of creating a collaborative environment and communicate clearly within the team
* Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional and ethical standards with proven ability to deliver results
* Proven track record with dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion along with the ability to communicate complex information to others
* Proactively identifying new areas of improvement by challenging current processes and encouraging creative thinking
* Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems and potential improvements, and propose and implement solutions
* Skilled in continuously reviewing safety practices and suggest ways for improvement
* Experience in contributing to a safe working environment by checking regularly that safety and wellbeing practices are being followed.
