Job Description
The role of a Health Care Assistant at a Community Nursing Unit involves providing support to patients with their daily activities, ensuring their physical and mental health needs are met.
As part of the ward team, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality patient care.
1. Assist patients with personal hygiene, dietary intake, and mobility needs.
2. Support patients with meal preparation, ensure individual dietary needs are met, and participate in weighing residents.
3. Reposition patients, assist with walking and limb exercise, and supervise patients who require assistance with mobility.
Key Responsibilities:
* Personal care: assist with bathing, showering, shaving, oral hygiene care, dressing, and undressing.
* Support with meals, ensure individual dietary needs are met, and participate in weighing residents.
* Reposition patients, assist with walking and limb exercise, and supervise patients who require assistance with mobility.
* Perform general duties such as cleaning, tidying, and restocking store and linen rooms.
* Assist with emergency first aid, participate in audit collection, and maintain a record of patient/resident's personal property.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a relevant* Health Skills qualification as outlined in the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) formerly FETAC on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) of not less than QQI Level 5.
Additionally, you should have excellent interpersonal skills, good written and verbal communication, and one year experience in a Healthcare Environment.
You must also be of good character and fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office.
