What you can expect in a typical day:
The terminal is located across two separate sites in Dublin Port and is an Upper Tier COMAH site (Chemicals Act – Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations).
With large storage tanks supplied by ships using the facilities at Dublin port jetties, product is pumped into storage from the jetty, stored in tanks and then loaded onto road tankers for distribution by road.
The Terminal Maintenance Engineer is responsible for supporting the terminal maintenance programme to ensure the terminal operates in a safe and efficient manner to enable the importation, storage and discharge of fuels to our downstream and customer business.
In this role, you will support the smooth and reliable operation of equipment and systems, contributing directly to operational excellence.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure planned preventive maintenance checks are completed and coordinate non-routine preventative maintenance
Conduct routine inspections to address and forecast plant fatigue and respond promptly to breakdowns to keep operations running smoothly and avoid unnecessary downtime
Maintain and update computerised maintenance management system
Responsible for drafting and updating policy documents and procedures as required
Provide supervision of maintenance contractors in line with permit-to-work procedures
Review of contractor risk assessment and method statements
Provide support for the permit to work system – ensuring hot work permits, confined space entry permits, and equipment isolation certificates are always in place and in date
Support and coordinate the EHS induction training of contract workers and model best practice in EHS behaviours
Provide support in the development of risk assessments to ensure safe terminal operations
Provide support in the completion of incident reporting and accident investigation
Provide support to the team on capital investment projects and obtain competitive quotes for work/projects as required
What you'll need to succeed:
Have a good understanding of oil terminal operations
Have a track record of successful continuous improvement initiatives and proven results
Strong attention to detail
Strong capability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
Effective at problem solving and making decisions
Highly organised and be able to prioritise effectively
Please note the job is based in Dublin 5 days a week on site
Professional Skills & Education:
Third level qualification in mechanical, electrical engineering or technical equivalent
Ability to read P&IDs and understanding LOTO protocols
Excellent EHS knowledge
Strong judgment and ability to identify critical situations and respond accordingly
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within the organisation and influence
Ability to champion Irving Oil's/Top Oil's values, goals and objectives
Ability to work in a team environment
Proficiency in MS Office/Access/Excel
