The Role As Senior Medical Physicist, you will play a key role in the delivery and continuous improvement of Radiotherapy Physics services, contributing across treatment planning, dosimetry, imaging, quality assurance, and clinical governance.
This role offers a balance of hands-on clinical work, professional influence, and work-life balance within an established service.
The Opportunity Provide senior clinical and scientific expertise across Radiotherapy Physics, including treatment planning, imaging, dosimetry, and QA Support service development, clinical governance, and risk management in line with Irish and EU radiation protection legislation and best practice Work collaboratively within a well-established physics team under the leadership of the Chief Medical Physicist Contribute to the optimisation of existing technologies and the implementation of new techniques and workflows Partner with Radiation Oncology, Radiography, Nursing, and Hospital Management to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities Support the day-to-day delivery of Radiotherapy Physics services, including QA programmes for external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy Contribute to oversight of treatment planning systems, IGRT/CBCT, and dosimetry, ensuring traceability and audit readiness Participate in commissioning and validation of new equipment, software, and clinical techniques (e.g. VMAT, SBRT, SRS, HDR) Assist with the development, review, and implementation of SOPs and clinical protocols Participate in safety, quality, and governance activities, including incident learning and compliance reporting Support teaching, training, research, and collaboration with academic and national networks.
Essential Requirements PhD or MSc in Medical Physics or a related discipline from an accredited programme Registered Medical Physics Expert (Ireland), or recognised European / UK training, or US (DABR) / Canadian equivalent registration Minimum of six years' satisfactory experience, with at least three years at senior level, in Radiotherapy, Radiological Physics, Medical Imaging, Radiation Protection, or a related field Strong background in linear accelerator calibration and periodic quality assurance Experience with 3D conformal radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and treatment planning systems Essential experience with radiosurgery and IMRT / VMAT Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical team Your Rewards: Relocation package Competitive pay for the work employees do – base pay, performance related pay and premium pay where applicable.
