Role Overview
An exciting contract opportunity is available for a
Laboratory Systems Specialist
to support a high-throughput Testing Hub. The role focuses on laboratory data and systems supporting the testing of incoming raw materials, in-process drug substance and drug product samples, stability studies, and environmental monitoring within controlled manufacturing and utilities areas.
This position plays a key role in ensuring data integrity, system reliability, and right-first-time execution across laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will bring energy, technical expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset to the following:
* Act as
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
for laboratory data management and instrument control systems, including
LIMS (GLIMS/LabWare)
,
Laboratory Execution Systems (LES)
,
Lonza MODA
, and
Waters Empower
.
* Support laboratory operations by configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting lab IT systems to ensure reliable data capture and compliance.
* Build and enhance laboratory systems to support
technology transfer and commercialisation
of biologics and pharmaceutical products.
* Work in a
Right First Time
environment, applying
Lean principles
such as standard work, simplification, and visual management.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, and IT teams to resolve system issues and drive continuous improvement.
* Provide system support for analytical testing activities including
HPLC, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, bioassays, PCR, capillary electrophoresis
, and other compendial methods.
* Apply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to laboratory system and data issues.
Required Skills & Experience:
To be successful in this role, candidates will typically have:
* A
degree in a scientific or technical discipline
(e.g., Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, IT, Engineering).
* 3+ years' experience
working with laboratory systems in a regulated environment.
* Hands-on experience with
LIMS (LabWare/GLIMS)
,
MODA
,
LES
, and/or
Empower
systems.
* Experience in system configuration, build, maintenance, or support;
interest in scripting or coding
is an advantage.
* A working knowledge of
GMP
,
ICH
,
USP
, and global compendial requirements related to analytical laboratories.
* Strong analytical thinking, logical problem-solving, and ability to perform under pressure.
* Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
* Flexible, self-motivated, and proactive attitude.
