About Us
The Hillgrove Hotel & Spa is seeking a passionate and experienced Assistant Bar Manager to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the Bar Manager to ensure our bar operations run smoothly, deliver outstanding service to guests, and help us achieve departmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist the Bar Manager with all aspects of bar operations: food & beverage service, staff scheduling, inventory control, and maintaining a clean and hygienic bar environment.
* Ensure all team members are well-informed about the food & beverage menu, specials, and serve according to company standards.
* Oversee PK’s Bar opening setup and the closing procedures after service.
* Maintain accurate stock levels; manage ordering; ensure drinks are prepared to recipe.
* Handle cash drawers, reconcile takings, and follow all cash‑handling procedures.
* Train, motivate and develop the bar team, fostering a positive, high‑performance work environment.
* Deal promptly and professionally with guest concerns or complaints to ensure guest satisfaction.
* Act as deputy for the Bar Manager in their absence.
Qualifications & Skills
* At least 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role in a bar or restaurant within the hospitality sector.
* Strong food & beverage knowledge, including bartending, cocktail preparation, and drink service.
* Excellent customer service skills; capable of building rapport and responding to guest needs efficiently.
* Proven ability to manage and lead a team: scheduling, coaching/training, conducting performance reviews.
* Strong organisational skills, with great attention to detail and accuracy.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, in a fast‑paced setting.
