Job Title: Labour Market Engagement Specialist
We are seeking a skilled Labour Market Engagement Specialist to join our team.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide one-to-one support and guidance to individuals who are long-term unemployed, helping them overcome barriers to employment. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs, identify goals and aspirations, and develop a personalized plan to achieve employment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Providing a participative and diagnostic approach to engaging clients;
* Planning appointments with clients to ensure effective use of time and building strong relationships;
* Engaging with clients to understand their needs using a multi-approach methodology;
* Identifying client goals, aspirations, and barriers to employment, and providing excellent customer service;
* Explaining our service offering and ensuring clients understand their rights and responsibilities;
* Managing caseloads efficiently and effectively in line with good governance and established procedures;
* SUPPORTING COLLEAGUES WITH CASELOAD MANAGEMENT IN OUTREACH OFFICES COVERING ANNUAL LEAVE AND SICKNESS IF NECESSARY;
* Preparing detailed Personal Progression Plans for each client and identifying the support required;
* Assisting clients with CV preparation and job seeking/interview skills;
* Assessing and ensuring clients are signposted internally/externally to labour market engagement opportunities;
* Maintaining a database of clients/groups in the catchment area using IT systems;
* Liaising directly with training providers and agencies to provide a wrap-around service for clients;
* Providing oral and written reports to your line manager when required;
* Demonstrating a willingness to take on additional duties as and when required.
Key Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will require:
* Detailed knowledge of employment, enterprise, and/or career guidance;
* Experience working with individuals furthest from the labour market;
* A clear understanding of the role of Local Area Employment Services;
* Up-to-date knowledge of labour market trends and job skills;
* Awareness of the impact of unemployment on self-image, behaviour, and well-being, especially among the long-term unemployed;
* Understanding of the barriers faced by unemployed individuals in accessing progression opportunities;
* Proven ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders;
* Strong influencing and motivational skills;
* Ability to build trust and inspire confidence in others;
* Experience managing caseloads to deliver Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);
* Ability to report on outcomes using advanced MS Office/IT skills or bespoke systems;
* Positive, empathetic, flexible, and self-motivated attitude;
* Strong communication, listening, and administration skills;
* Financial awareness and a creative approach to client engagement;
* Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Experience engaging with employers and advising on JobsPlus initiatives.
