We are a retail shop specialising in pet products and are looking for someone with strong retail management experience. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in supervising retail operations, leading teams, and delivering excellent customer service in a dynamic environment.
As Retail Assistant Manager, you will support the Store Manager, cover for them during absences, oversee staff, manage inventory, maintain high store standards, and help ensure the shop runs smoothly. Core Responsibilities
* Support the Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations and maintaining high standards throughout the shop.
* Lead and motivate team members to consistently deliver excellent customer service and achieve performance targets.
* Assist with inventory management, merchandising, and stock control to ensure products are attractively displayed and well-stocked.
* Handle customer queries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
* Ensure the store is clean, organised, and complies with all safety and company guidelines.
* Help train new staff and support ongoing development to strengthen team performance.
* Contribute to hitting sales targets and participating in promotional activities to boost store performance.
What We're Looking For
* Retail Management Experience: At least two years in retail, preferably in a supervisory or assistant manager position, showing a deep understanding of store operations, sales, and customer engagement.
* Leadership & Communication: Ability to lead and motivate a team, provide clear direction, and resolve conflicts professionally.
* Operational Skills: Experience with inventory management, visual merchandising, point-of-sale systems, and implementing store policies.
* Customer Service Focus: Consistent delivery of excellent customer service, efficient handling of queries, and positive resolution of issues.
* Adaptability & Multitasking: Comfortable juggling multiple duties, thriving under pressure, and adapting to fast-changing retail demands.
* Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends and cover various shifts as needed, demonstrating reliability and commitment to business needs.
* Professionalism: Maintains a high standard of store presentation, complies with health and safety guidelines, and acts as an ambassador for the company.
* Team Orientation: Works well with others, supports staff development, and contributes to a positive shop culture.
* Commercial Awareness: Understands sales targets, KPIs, and profitability, and identifies opportunities to maximise revenue.
