The Role
We’re looking for a Mid-Level Back End Engineer who’s comfortable working across modern stacks and is ready to contribute to building scalable, cloud-based solutions. Bonus points if you have some hands-on experience or curiosity about front end development.
You’ll join a pragmatic, friendly engineering team working closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to design, build, and ship quality features; with a lot of autonomy and a focus on delivering real value.
This role reports to the Staff Engineer and collaborates with the Head of Engineering, Product and Data teams to drive growth projects. It offers a strong career path within a fast-scaling fintech, where you\'ll gain hands-on experience and sharpen your skills.
The position is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in our head office at Belfield Office Park, Clonskeagh, Dublin.
What You\'ll Do
Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices using Java or Kotlin with Spring Boot
Write efficient SQL queries to support data analysis and optimise system performance
Build and maintain AWS-based infrastructure (ECS, S3, RDS, IAM, etc.)
Collaborate on architecture, code reviews, and technical design discussions
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
Participate in agile ceremonies and work closely with product and QA
Occasionally contribute to front-end codebases built with React
Monitor and optimise application performance and reliability
Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues in production
What We\'re Looking For
Must Have
2-5 years of experience as a back end engineer (Java, Kotlin, or both)
Solid knowledge of Spring Boot and related ecosystem
Good understanding of SQL and Spring-based persistence (JPA/Hibernate, Spring Data, etc.)
Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
Familiarity with AWS (hands-on with at least a few services: e.g., Lambda, S3, ECS, RDS, Terraform a plus)
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Good communication skills
Nice To Have
Experience of other programming languages beyond just Java
Exposure to React and willingness to learn/contribute to the front end when needed
Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline)
Familiarity with Docker, containers, and cloud-native best practices
