GEDON Executive is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Infrastructure Estimator to join a globally recognized Tier 1 Civil Contractor in Dublin, Ireland. This is a pivotal role focused on securing multi‑million euro projects within the crucial Irish infrastructure sectors, including Rail, Roads, and Water/Utility schemes valued up to €300 million.
With a competitive salary of up to €120,000, plus a vehicle and flexible working arrangements, this position requires a proven expert ready to lead the commercial strategy for complex civil engineering tenders.
Key Responsibilities
Tender Leadership: Lead the end‑to‑end estimating process for major civil infrastructure tenders across the Rail, Roads, and Water/Utility sectors.
First Principles Estimating: Prepare detailed, robust, and accurate cost estimates from first principles, covering all elements of civil works, including complex temporary works, plant, materials, and specialized subcontract packages.
Risk & Contractual Analysis: Conduct comprehensive reviews of tender documentation, specifications, and contracts (especially GCCC or NEC) to identify, quantify, and report on all commercial and contractual risks, allowances, and opportunities.
Methodology Integration: Work closely with the Senior Planner and Operations teams to define and cost optimal construction methodologies that align with the program and are accurately reflected in the cost submission.
Supply Chain Management: Direct the estimating team's engagement with the supply chain, including issuing detailed inquiries, performing critical analysis and leveling of subcontract quotations, and engaging in high‑level price negotiation.
Adjudication & Presentation: Prepare clear, comprehensive cost breakdowns and confidently present the final commercial position, risk profile, and strategic recommendations during senior management tender adjudication meetings.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the estimating team.
What You’ll Bring
Proven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Senior Estimator (typically 8+ years) with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership estimating role within the civil sector.
Sector Expertise: Essential, significant experience estimating large‑scale Civil Engineering and Major Infrastructure projects (e.g., Rail, Roads/Highways, Water/Wastewater Treatment, or complex Utilities).
Commercial Acumen: Exceptional analytical ability, detailed knowledge of civil construction costs, market rates, and high‑level negotiation skills.
Contractual Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of contractual risk allocation under standard forms of contract used in Irish infrastructure (GCCC) or UK/International civil contracts (NEC, FIDIC).
Software Proficiency: Highly proficient in estimating software packages and advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
