The laboratory encompasses Biochemistry, Microbiology, Point of Care, Coagulation and ISO 15189:2022 accredited Haematology, Blood Transfusion specialities.We have a vacancy for a full-time Chief Medical Scientist for Biochemistry to join friendly, supportive laboratory management team and contribute to the development and expansion of our service and hospital. Our medium-sized multidisciplinary laboratory provides the opportunity to enhance your leadership skills and knowledge and collaborate cross-functionally in the hospital and the wider organisation. The post-holder will lead the development and growth of in-house Biochemistry testing to meet the needs of our clinical services.Candidate requirementsCORU-registered (or evidence of application in progress) Medical Scientist and eligible for Fellowship of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.Possess a Master's Qualification (MSc) or equivalent (NFQ Level 9) post graduate qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications maintained by Quality and Qualifications Ireland in a Science related discipline, as relevant to the role which has been validated by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.An equivalent qualification at minimum level 9 validated by the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine.Possess at least five years' full time clinical experience (or aggregate of 5 years full time clinical experience) as a medical scientist in a clinical diagnostic laboratory post-qualification, at least two of which were spent in a promotional post in Biochemistry.Experience of service development and ISO15189 accreditation.Demonstrable mature and effective interaction with senior leadership and management.Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development relevant to Biochemistry.Flexible, collaborative and committed to achievement of team and organisational objectives.Experience in Point of Care testing is preferable, but not essential.Patient-focused and influential with excellent communication skills.Knowledge and experience of risk management.Experience of JCI hospital accreditation (desirable).To apply, please send your CV and cover letter by the 9th of January to Hilary Ryan, HR Department, We encourage potential applicants to contact us with enquiries and/or to arrange an informal visit.
