Best Care Residential Ltd is a new, purpose-driven children's residential care provider based in Co. Donegal. Our vision is to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed residential care to young people in need of a safe, stable home environment.
We are currently in the pre-registration phase with Tusla and are building a team committed to compassion, consistency, and high standards of care. As a founder-led service with business and operations expertise, we are now seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director of Care to guide and support our governance and service quality.
Purpose of the Role
To provide independent, expert oversight of care quality, support the governance and safeguarding responsibilities of the company, and offer advice to the board and Home Manager as the service becomes operational.
Key Responsibilities
● Offer independent oversight of care quality and safeguarding standards.
● Support the leadership team in ensuring the service meets Tusla registration and HIQA inspection requirements.
● Contribute to the governance structure, including oversight of compliance, risk management, and service audits.
● Act as an external advisor to the Home Manager, particularly during challenging or high-risk care situations.
● Participate in monthly governance reviews, board meetings, or site visits (approx. once per month).
● Support strategic development of policies, culture, and model of care alongside the senior team.
● Ensure young people's needs and rights remain central to service delivery. Person Specification
● Proven experience in senior roles within children's residential care (required).
● Strong understanding of Tusla/HIQA standards, safeguarding legislation, and governance best practices.
● A collaborative, ethical, and child-centered approach to oversight and decision-making.
● Availability to provide flexible support (approx. 2–3 hours/week or as needed) and attend occasional site visits to the Donegal facility.
● Willingness to act as an advisor and mentor, not an operational manager. Terms of Engagement
● This is a non-executive, part-time consultancy role, not an employee position.
● A monthly retainer or per-day consultancy fee will be agreed upon in line with scope and availability.
● Travel costs for site visits will be reimbursed.
