Overall, Purpose of Role
* The role is responsible for distribution / distributor oversight across Barings European Funds and supporting the oversight of Barings Global Distributors. The successful candidate will work with different teams in Barings to maintain and develop relationships with our extended distributor base.
* As designated person the candidate will monitor and oversee Barings distribution and ensure compliance with our regulatory obligations.
* The designated person will ensure sufficient oversight is undertaken and that the polices and directions issued by the board are acted upon and that regulatory obligations are being complied with.
* The designated person will maintain overall responsibility for the oversight of fund distribution activities including but not limited to, third party distributors, distributor affiliates, target market activities and jurisdictional control and oversight.
Principal Responsibilities
Distributor Oversight
* Act as the BIFMI Designated Person for Distributor oversight and report to the BIFMI Board on Distributor oversight matters.
* Own, develop and manage Board and internal Management Information (‘MI’) reporting to include key noteworthy metrics such as new distributors, newly seeded accounts, large inflows, trends and newly implemented strategies.
* Support and oversee the interactions between 3rd party Distributors and the Barings fund range.
* Work closely with the regional distribution teams to agree on appropriate categorisation and ongoing monitoring of existing distributors.
* Coordinate with London based sales teams the effective distributor relationship & service management across the BIFMI fund platform.
* Build internal relationships to leverage key data that may be required to perform duties.
* Maintain and develop procedures to ensure effective and open communication/reporting of incidents such as complaints/mis-selling.
* Understand and keep up to date with regulatory guidance and direction (such as CP86 & MiFID II) to ensure overall compliance.
* Ensure distributors receive timely regulatory information in conjunction with service level agreements and business development needs.
* Take the lead in designing, implementing and executing the framework for distributor oversight.
* Maintain 3rd party UK and European distributor contracts and ensure service level agreements are monitored, updated and supported by Legal and Operations teams globally.
* Co-ordinate distributor on-boarding & required changes to distributor agreements with legal, compliance, Distributor, other internal stakeholders and external parties where relevant.
* Responsible for supporting due diligence for new distributor relationships in conjunction with the sales teams.
* Ensure the target market identification for all products remains accurate and up to date, make recommendations for enhancements and changes to the business.
* Co-ordinate the review of negative target market data received from distributors.
* Manage ad hoc distributor communication or engagement as needed
Industry Research & Representation
* Undertake or commission industry research as required to support the UK and European Distribution Group
* Participation in relevant industry working groups and attendance at seminars as required
Strategic Projects
* Support key projects arising from the Global Distribution Group.
Experience
* The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in:
* Irish/European Funds, Financial Services, Investment Management, Transfer Agency, Fund & Market Data, Fund Expenses, Distributor Fees & Fund Administration.
* Strong experience Project Management.
* Strong problem solving and communication skills.
* Ability to take initiative and critically analyse processes and procedures in a push towards constant improvement.
* Able to work both independently and as part of a team in a highly dynamic work environment.
