Waterford Intellectual Disability Association are currently recruiting an Assistant Psychologist to join their Multidisciplinary Team. We invite applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals, for the position of Assistant Psychologist. The successful candidate will be developing, implementing and reviewing Stress Support Plans adopting the Studio III low arousal approach. Training in the Management of Behaviours of concern will be provided by Studio III. What We Offer: Competitive Pay scales and rates Company Pension Death-in-Service Benefit Continuous Professional Development Employee Assistance Programme Paid Maternity/Paternity Leave Bike to Work Scheme Requirements: ESSENTIAL Hold a degree in Psychology Have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience working directly with service users with an Intellectual Disability Possess knowledge of psychological and physiological processes and their impact on behaviour of concern Have extensive knowledge of working with individuals with challenging behaviours in a direct and indirect capacity Have experience of supporting frontline staff Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the demands of various situations and environments. DESIRABLE Experience completing direct and indirect staff training. Experience participating in MDT reviews. Experience of inter-disciplinary working. Understanding of the social model. Commitment to working in partnership Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills Commitment to ongoing training and development. To design stress support plans and programmes for service users accessing WIDA services To provide assessment and ongoing interventions to service users and families attending the service. To provide services as part of an interdisciplinary team and within an integrated holistic model of service delivery. To ensure that the needs of service users are being adequately met by the Psychology service provided. Ensure that any stress related behaviour is handled with absolute tact, in line with stress support plans. To monitor the delivery of designed programmes To participate actively in general development of the service. To ensure that professional standards are maintained. To work in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of services for adults, in particular in the development of person centred stress support plans. To develop and maintain good working relationships with HSE therapists and other agencies, so as to promote a seamless service to families. To keep the relevant member of the management team informed of any issues arising with service users or staff. To maintain quality standards and both administer and participate in quality assurance clinical audit and staff appraisal, as appropriate. Operates in accordance with Psychological Society of Ireland Ethical Frameworks. To comply with WIDA policies and procedures To maintain appropriate records / statistics in line with local policy Perform any other duties appropriate to the position from time to time. Skills/Attributes: Be flexible, enthusiastic and committed. Have experience working with individuals with complex needs. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Have a Inter-Disciplinary approach to service delivery. Be committed to the provision of high quality Person-Centred services, supporting individuals to access their local communities and to develop to their full potential. Be proficient in completing Behavioural Assessments and Scripting Stress Support Plans. Possess the ability to collect and analyse pertinent data, and make alternations to existent plans as required. Be familiar with the National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities. Be familiar with completing Risk Assessments and supporting positive risk taking. Be familiar with the Safeguarding Vulnerable Persons at Risk of Abuse National Policy and Procedures. Be familiar with the Children First Policy and Procedure Full B Licence required and access to own vehicle. Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work in a team An inquiring and creative mind
