Healthcare Catering Assistant
Excel Recruitment is currently seeking dependable and experienced Healthcare Catering Assistants to support hospital and nursing home facilities throughout Cork. This position is well suited to individuals with a strong interest in food service, patient wellbeing, and maintaining excellent hygiene standards within healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the preparation, presentation, and service of meals for patients and residents
2. Follow all dietary, nutritional, and allergen requirements with precision
3. Distribute meals to wards and resident areas promptly and courteously
4. Ensure kitchen, dining, and service areas are kept clean and hygienic
5. Clean dishes, utensils, and catering equipment as required
6. Comply fully with HACCP, food safety, and infection prevention protocols
7. Work closely with catering and healthcare teams to ensure smooth service
8. Deliver a professional, friendly, and respectful service at all times
Candidate Requirements
9. Previous experience in healthcare catering, hospital kitchens, or nursing home environments
10. Sound understanding of food hygiene and HACCP standards
11. Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
12. Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, highly regulated setting
13. Strong communication and teamwork skills
14. Flexibility to work a range of shifts
15. Legal right to work in Ireland
16. Garda Vetting (mandatory and required prior to placement)
17. Willingness to complete mandatory training, including food safety, infection control, manual handling, safeguarding, and healthcare-specific procedures
Desirable Skills and Experience
18. HACCP or Food Safety certification
19. Manual Handling certification
20. Experience supporting special dietary needs, such as diabetic or texture-modified diets
