Background
Our client are looking for a Site Engineer who will work under the guidance of the Site Agent/Construction Manager and play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered successfully — on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the organisation, planning, and delivery of civil engineering projects of varying scale.
* Work closely with the Construction Manager to coordinate resources and oversee project progress, ensuring accurate measurement and reporting of works.
* Support the Site Foreman in managing the workforce, sourcing plant and materials, and monitoring productivity and cost-effectiveness.
* Promote and uphold health and safety standards on site, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company systems (including ISO standards).
* Manage elements of the project plan, preparing weekly and daily programmes and ensuring resources are scheduled effectively.
* Supervise and coordinate both direct employees and subcontractors to deliver according to project requirements.
* Carry out setting out, checking, and surveying as required for the project.
* Oversee material requisitions, ensuring timely scheduling in line with the programme.
* Maintain accurate site records, including measurements, drawings, as-built documents, and registers.
* Lead and guide the workforce with professionalism, maintaining clear direction and high standards.
* Keep detailed daily site diaries and resource allocation records.
* Monitor and maintain the quality of construction outputs, contributing to quality control and assurance processes.
* Support monthly reporting on project measures and contribute to cost control.
Key Skills Required
* Degree in Civil Engineering (BSc, BEng, MEng, or equivalent).
* 3 years of practical experience on civil engineering projects.
* Proficient in the use of engineering software and digital tools.
* Strong interpersonal abilities, with excellent written and spoken English.
* A proven team player who can also work effectively on their own initiative.
