**Job Title:** HGV Mechanic/Fitter
The role involves inspecting, servicing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), construction plant, and associated equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance across operations.
**Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, construction plant, and machinery in line with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
* Detect faults and carry out effective repairs both on-site and in the workshop.
* Conduct pre-use inspections and safety checks on all plant and vehicle equipment.
* Maintain accurate service records and complete job sheets and defect reports.
* Collaborate with site managers and operators to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
* Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Order and manage spare parts and consumables as required.
* Respond promptly and efficiently to breakdowns, including occasional out-of-hours support.
**Requirements:
* A minimum of a National Craft Certificate or equivalent qualification in HGV Mechanics or Plant Fitters.
* Proven experience in maintaining and repairing HGVs and construction plant.
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
* A valid full driving license is essential, with an HGV license being desirable.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Effective communication and organizational skills are crucial.
* Familiarity with health and safety procedures in a construction or civil engineering environment.
