Principal Digital Design Engineer
The Precision Signal Chain Group (PSC) is a key technology franchise within ADI, developing industry-leading precision front‑end solutions for Instrumentation, Industrial, Automotive, Healthcare, Communications, and Consumer applications. PSC is seeking a Principal (Lead) Digital Design Engineer to join our mixed‑signal design team in developing state‑of‑the‑art precision converter products with significant digital content. This role would span the entire product development cycle from concept phase through design, verification, implementation, and release to customers. The position is based in Cork or Limerick, Ireland.
Responsibilities
Drive technical strategy and innovation for complex digital designs, including SoC (System on Chip) type products.
Lead architecture missions and serve as technical authority within the organization.
Engage with customers and industry partners for strategic products.
Architect, support and deliver quality digital solutions, from RTL design using SystemVerilog through formal and CDC analysis, defining synthesis/timing constraints, performing static timing analysis, guiding the physical design and DFT efforts, and analyzing power consumption and power integrity.
Effective and efficient design documentation and design review presentations.
Participation in weekly project meetings and design collaboration meetings.
Mentor and develop technical talent across the organization.
Previous Experience / Skills Needed & Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
12+ years of relevant experience in digital design engineering.
Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
Authority in complex SoC architecture design and implementation; deep knowledge of processor/SoC architecture and/or DSP fundamentals is a strong plus.
Multi‑domain expertise, comprehensive mastery across multiple technical domains to interact with analog design, product applications, software teams, and test/evaluation.
Business awareness, strong understanding of business context, and ability to align technical work with strategy.
Mastery of processor architectures and bus fabric protocols (AHB, APB, AXI, …).
Broad experience with digital interfaces (SPI, I2C, SPMI, I3C, UART, …).
Experience with end‑to‑end ASIC/SoC product development and productization is very desirable.
