Job Description
The assistant professorship in the Law of Evidence and Criminal Law is a tenure track position. Applications are welcome from legal scholars with research excellence in the law of evidence and criminal law. The postholder will be required to deliver core modules at undergraduate level, develop and deliver postgraduate modules and supervise students at undergraduate, master’s and doctoral levels. S/he/they will be required to carry out administrative duties as directed by the Head of School and/or Head of Discipline and is/are expected to be research active. Interviews and presentations for this competition will take place in person the week beginning 22 June 2026. Post status: Tenure Track – This position is a 5‑year in the first instance, permanency is subject to satisfying the tenure requirements. Hours of Post: Hours of work for academic staff are those prescribed under Public Service Agreements. Application Requirements

Cover letter – 2 × A4 pages maximum outlining how their experience makes them suitable for the role.
Full curriculum vitae including a full list of publications.
Research statement – 2 × A4 pages maximum summarising current and future research plans.
Teaching statement – 2 × A4 pages maximum summarising teaching philosophy and experience.
Two pieces of sample writing (no more than 12,000 words each, including footnotes).
