We are recruiting a Group Bookkeeper to join a property related company who's office is based in Dunlaoghaire, Co Dublin. May be moving to Sandyford, D18 in the coming months. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Group Bookkeeper to support the financial operations of a multi-entity group spanning Construction, Property Development, Investment, and Residential Care. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this hands-on role will manage day-to-day bookkeeping, ensure compliance with sector-specific regulations (particularly RCT), handle intercompany transactions, and provide support for VAT, supplier payments, and financial reporting across group companies. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is confident working across a variety of sectors and accounting processes. Key Responsibilities 1. Multi-Entity Bookkeeping * Maintain accurate financial records across multiple group companies using Sage 50. * Process all day-to-day transactions including supplier invoices, bank entries, and journals. * Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, accruals, and depreciation entries. * Manage intercompany transactions and monthly reconciliations between group entities. 2. Subcontractor Compliance (RCT / CIS) * RCT (Ireland): - Register and manage construction contracts with Revenue via ROS. - Submit payment notifications, file returns, and generate Deduction Authorisations. * CIS (UK) (advantageous but not essential): - Verify subcontractors with HMRC, manage CIS deductions, and file monthly returns. - Issue Payment & Deduction Statements where applicable. 3. Accounts Payable & Receivable * Process and reconcile invoices, supplier statements, and staff expenses. * Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments. * Liaise with clients and suppliers to resolve queries efficiently. 4. Compliance & Financial Support * Prepare and submit VAT returns, including reverse charge VAT where applicable. * Ensure ongoing compliance with RCT, VAT, and other statutory obligations. * Support external accountants and auditors during year-end and financial reviews. * Maintain up-to-date and secure financial records in accordance with best practices. 5. Internal Liaison & Communication * Work closely with the Financial Controller, external advisors, and regulatory bodies (Revenue / HMRC). * Collaborate with site teams, procurement, and operations to align financial entries with real-time activity. * Contribute to smooth internal workflows and timely month-end reporting. Qualifications & Skills Education * Minimum: Leaving Certificate (or equivalent). * Preferred: Part-qualified accountant, Accounting Technician (ATI), or relevant bookkeeping certification. Experience * Minimum 3 years' bookkeeping experience, ideally within a multi-entity or group structure. * Strong understanding of RCT (Ireland) is essential. * CIS (UK) experience is an advantage but not essential. * Familiarity with property-based transactions, including sales and acquisitions, is highly desirable. * Experience in construction, property, investment, or residential care sectors is an advantage. Technical Skills * Proficient in Sage 50 and Microsoft Excel. * Solid grasp of core bookkeeping principles, VAT (incl. reverse charge), and intercompany accounting.
