Join to apply for the Support Worker role at The Good Shepherd Centre Kilkenny.

The Good Shepherd Centre now requires a support worker to support residents and tenants in the Centre and in the community, and to assist project workers in the implementation of care plans.


Main Roles And Responsibilities

* Work within the framework of the overall objectives and policies of the Good Shepherd Centre.
* Provide assistance with daily activities such as personal care to service users in their own homes, ensuring clients' dignity and wellbeing are promoted.
* Implement support plans (recovery-focused) with clients as directed by the project worker. Tasks may include cleaning, shopping, general housekeeping, and other identified activities.
* This contract is a specified purpose contract, subject to ongoing funding support.
* Support tenants in maintaining their homes and managing personal care.
* Work as part of a team.
* Remind service users to take their medication.
* Provide relief care for colleagues as required.
* Report concerns to the project worker/team leader and monitor changing needs of service users.
* Support service users with life skills such as using household appliances, meal preparation, and cleaning.
* Keep up-to-date records such as daily logs.
* Work according to the service model and standards of best practice.
* Attend and participate in training and meetings as required.
* Participate in supervision sessions.
* Work a flexible roster over days, evenings, and weekends to meet service objectives.
* Implement and contribute to policies and procedures.
* Evaluate daily activities.
* Maintain confidentiality concerning individuals using our service, including secure storage of reports and records.
* Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader.
* Be vigilant about health, safety, and welfare risks, reporting concerns appropriately.
* Promote the safety, health, and wellbeing of service users.


Essential Criteria

* Level 5 QQI Healthcare or equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience in a related field.
* Full clean driving license and access to a car.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to support service users effectively.
* Practical skills and willingness to complete required tasks.
* Excellent problem-solving skills.
* Demonstrate a caring, responsible attitude, respecting service users' dignity and independence.


Desirable

* Experience of lone working in a healthcare setting.
* First Aid Training.


Skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
