Fire Safety Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Safety professional to join our team in Cork and Kerry.
Position: Fire Safety Engineer
Location: Cork & Kerry
Salary: €50-60k per annum plus travel allowance
The main responsibilities include:
1. Regular inspections of buildings, means of escape, and fire-fighting equipment to ensure all such equipment is properly located, well-marked, in good repair, and in good working order.
2. Reviewing and drawing up fire orders, including evacuation schemes for various types of buildings and institutions, with particular regard to mentally ill and non-ambulant patients, and to draw up fire plans for all organisations' buildings and premises.
3. Regular and routine inspection of places, premises, and equipment presenting a special risk of fire and reporting any breaches of the fire prevention code.
4. Arranging regular fire drills in each location and ensuring they are properly carried out.
5. Maintaining sufficient water supply in all divisions of each institution for firefighting purposes and reporting any deficiencies.
6. Ensuring quality control measures on-site are implemented and aligned with the overall project plan.
7. Advising on the interpretation of Fire Protection Standards and Building Regulations issued by Government Departments and ensuring their implementation.
8. Maintaining direction and supervision over fire prevention work programmes.
9. Monitoring and reporting on Health Safety and Infrastructural Risk issues within the organisation.
10. Participating in risk assessment processes/inspections related to fire maintenance and infrastructural risk.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
1. A Level 7 HETAC qualification in Engineering, Fire Engineering, Construction, Health & Safety, or Architecture, or a related discipline.
2. At least 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety or Fire Engineering role.
3. Strong numeracy and report-writing skills.
4. Ability to formulate plans and execute them within budget and timeline constraints.
5. Capacity to make informed decisions and know when to escalate issues.
