Role Overview
Dar-us-Salaam is seeking a Freelance Social Media Analytics & Strategy Specialist to help us understand what is working across our social media platforms and why. This role focuses on analyzing performance data, interpreting results, and guiding strategic decisions based on real insights.
This role does not focus on day-to-day posting. Instead, it supports optimization, testing, and strategic direction by translating analytics into clear recommendations for our social media and communications teams.
Primary Objectives
Analyze social media performance across all Dar-us-Salaam platforms
Identify patterns, opportunities, and gaps in content performance
Inform content strategy using data-backed insights
Support optimization through testing and experimentation
Responsibilities
Analyze social media analytics across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, etc.)
Interpret performance metrics such as reach, engagement, saves, clicks, and conversions
Identify which content types, themes, and formats are performing best
Recommend strategic adjustments based on data insights
Support A/B testing of content formats, captions, timing, and creative approaches
Advise when paid amplification or boosting may be effective
Provide insights that help guide future content creation and campaigns
Analytics & Interpretation Expectations
This role requires more than reporting numbers. The specialist must:
Explain what the metrics mean in clear, non-technical language
Connect performance data to audience behavior and content effectiveness
Identify trends across platforms and projects
Help determine whether to double down, pivot, or test new approaches
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Dar-us-Salaam values documentation and institutional clarity. The specialist is expected to:
Document findings, decisions, and recommendations
Explain testing strategies and results
Provide written summaries or recorded walkthroughs of insights
Create referenceable documentation that supports long-term learning
Desired Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications
Proven experience with social media analytics and performance analysis
Strong understanding of platform-specific metrics and dashboards
Ability to interpret and explain data clearly
Experience supporting strategy through analytics, not just reporting
Strong command of the English language, including clear writing, proper grammar, and the ability to communicate ideas effectively within an English-speaking professional context
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with multi-account or multi-brand social media environments
Experience with A/B testing content or campaigns
Familiarity with paid social amplification strategies
Experience working with nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
Working Style & Collaboration
Works closely with the Director of Strategic Communications
Collaborates with social media managers and content creators
Communicates clearly and proactively
Comfortable providing recommendations backed by data
Compensation
Compensation will be discussed based on scope, frequency, and experience
