The clinic base for the Senior Speech & Language Therapist, is between Blackrock and Dun Laoghaire. This role focuses on adult clients aged 18+, particularly older adults living with complex acute and chronic conditions and offers a rewarding opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative Allied Health team. Purpose: As a Senior Speech & Language Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting adults aged 18 and over-particularly those living with complex acute and chronic conditions-by providing expert care in both communication and dysphagia management. This service provides a community-based communication and dysphagia service to clients in a clinic setting and in people's homes as required. The SLT is part of a wider MDT and works closely across networks and with adult SLT colleagues across the IHA. Based in a welcoming, community setting, this role combines autonomy, collaboration, and the chance to help shape the future of older adults. Additional information relevant to the role: A FEES service has recently been established in this area, The Dublin SLT team are central to the development of a community-based FEES (Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of the Swallow) service in CH East in collaboration with other services in Dublin South East and Wicklow. Opportunities to develop competencies and skills in FEES are available within this service. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality SLT services (communication and dysphagia) to adults in both clinic settings and clients' homes. Manage a caseload independently while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). Participate in regular clinical supervision with the SLT Manager. Support the development of the community-based FEES service, with opportunities for skill-building and competency development in this area. Engage in care planning and contribute to service improvement across the region. The Ideal Candidate: CORU-registered (or registration in process) Speech & Language Therapist. Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, with proven ability to work independently at a senior level. Demonstrated experience working with adult and older populations with a broad range of communication and swallowing disorders. Clinical experience working with adults, with ability to assess and manage a range of communication and feeding, eating, drinking and swallowing disorders, as it applies to the post. Must holds a dysphagia qualification or equivalent in line with IASLT standards. Excellent communication, organisational and clinical reasoning skills. Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle for community visits (Essential).
