Job Description
We’re growing and hiring a Specialist Automation Engineer for our Automation & Maintenance team in Dunboyne. Our state‑of‑the‑art site makes biologics drug substance from clinical supply through registration to commercial launch, with modern tech and a collaborative setup. You’ll join the Process Automation team that links early and late‑stage work to keep manufacturing seamless. Must‑haves: experience with DeltaV, Siemens TIA, OSI PI, and solid knowledge of ISA S95 and S88.
Responsibilities
Provide automation support for Emerson DeltaV DCS and OEM systems.
Support and/or Direct Continuous Improvement projects, including automation review of equipment specifications, P&IDs, and System Life Cycle documentation.
Responsible for troubleshooting equipment/automation issues to improve manufacturing performance (e.g. yield improvements), changes to support new products, and maintaining the automation systems in compliance with cGMP.
Liaise with process engineers to develop and define process Improvement change scope, delivering to specifications and adhering to quality standards.
Support the transfer of Process Technologies from early‑stage pipeline facilities and drive to GMP Operational Status, and support line of sight to commercial supply.
Participate and actively support Digital Transformation initiatives involving system integrations, data connectivity, validation methods and value‑based optimization of manufacturing via process control system.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a Life Science discipline or equivalent practical experience of automation control systems.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Automation Engineering function within Biologics/Pharmaceutical environment.
Proven experience with control systems (DeltaV, Siemens TIA, OSI PI) is essential.
Experience with computer system validation/SDLC and automation change control procedures (e.g., GAMP 5).
Experience with DeltaV Batch is essential, including understanding of ISA S95 and S88.
Commissioning and qualification, test protocol development and execution.
Networking experience (i.e., Ethernet/IP, OPC, Profinet, and Modbus TCP protocols) is advantageous.
