Overview:
The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland's marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring.

Responsibilities:

* Oversee and coordinate general day-to-day operations of the chemistry laboratories, in particular implement and coordinate the ISO 17025 quality system in the chemistry labs;
* Ensure the 11 laboratories are appropriately equipped and maintained;
* Ensure that the Health and Safety policy and best practices are fully implemented;
* Work with the management team to ensure that analytical services and results/data are delivered in a timely manner to customers;
* Act as a Technical Manager to oversee the testing service delivered by the trace metals unit (using techniques such as ICPMS and Cold Vapour Atomic Fluorescence Spectroscopy);
* Provide general laboratory support to the organics, biogeochemistry, and residues units, working with technical managers in these units;

* A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom (UK), or Switzerland pursuant to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the free movement of persons;
* A non-EEA citizen who is a spouse or child of an EEA or UK or Swiss citizen and has a stamp 4 or a Stamp 5 visa;
