Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join our team. This is a full-time on-site role that requires the successful candidate to be responsible for monthly management accounting for our business.
About the Role
The Management Accountant will work closely with our bookkeepers in the retail business to improve finance processes and reporting accuracy. Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting and collaborating with the bookkeeping team to prepare the monthly retail management accounts
* Providing SLT with accurate and timely financial insights
* Completing month-end and year-end close activities
* Preparing all journals, accruals, and adjustments and ensuring they are properly recorded and documented
Financial Planning and Analysis
The successful candidate will also work closely with Retail Business Leaders to support their finance needs and budget process. Responsibilities include:
* Preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial models to guide decision-making
* Analysing financial performance and variances, identifying trends, and recommending improvements
* Providing insights into cost structures and profitability
* Tracking and reporting on key performance indicators
Cost Control and Optimisation
The Management Accountant will monitor and control costs, ensuring efficiency across operations. They will evaluate and manage financial risks, recommending cost-saving measures. Additionally, they will assist in implementing internal control systems, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies.
Audit, Tax, and Regulatory Filings
The successful candidate will support tax filings as required, including VAT, corporation tax, company secretarial, and other statutory filings. They will also support external auditors and tax advisors as required.
Process Improvements/Projects
The Management Accountant will identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial reporting accuracy and timeliness. They will also identify and support initiatives to drive revenue growth and implement cost savings. Other projects may include supporting grant applications/administration or other initiatives identified by the Accounting Manager, Finance Director, or SLT.
Key Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Qualified (or Part Qualified) Accountant qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or other recognised accounting qualification completed or at an advanced stage in exams with commitment to complete exams to attain qualification)
