Health & Safety Manager
to join our team on a
full-time, permanent
basis.
About the Role
As our Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in shaping and maintaining a safe working environment across our operation. You will provide hands-on support, guidance and training while ensuring compliance with legal and company standards. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is proactive, personable, and passionate about creating a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities:
Ÿ Drive consistent high standards by assuring compliance with policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures
required by customers and relevant authorities regarding Health & Safety.
Ÿ Chairing H&S committee and organize meetings as required, ensuring full participation and attendance.
Ÿ Site accident & near miss investigation, including the collation of reports and systematic filing and overseeing root cause analysis, corrective actions and follow up where needed.
Ÿ Staff assessment on return to work with changes to normal duties
Ÿ Accident and Dangerous Occurrence Reporting with HSA
Ÿ COSH –ensuring that all chemicals are stored and used as recommended by the manufacturer and in line with site risk assessments.
Ÿ Maintain, and ensure implementation of the Health & Safety System.
Ÿ Responsible for ensuring H&S training is sufficient and completed – First Aid, Manual Handling and other as appropriate, working closely with department heads to deliver.
Ÿ Ensure site activities are carried out in compliance with current legislation and company health and policy and its support documents.
Ÿ Regularly review and update Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Statements, communicating any updates to teams.
Ÿ Implementing a program of Internal Audits on the Health & Safety Management System.
Ÿ Ensure company policies are communicated, applied and enforced.
Ÿ Assure audit/inspection awareness and preparedness.
Ÿ Ensure the Operations Manager, Supervisors and Line Leaders are vigorously engaged in all health and safety management systems across the site.
Ÿ Compile weekly and monthly data as required, communicate the information to management, and executive teams where applicable.
Ÿ Collaborate closely with the Management Team and Line Managers in relation to Health & Safety Standards and Policies
Ÿ Liaising with the HR Manager & company insurer relating to information required in defense of claims and ensuring the required documentation if disclosed within the required timescales.
Ÿ Be instrumental in encouraging near miss and safety observation reporting.
Ÿ Control of Contractors/Sub-Contractors and required compliance paperwork.
Daily site safety walks to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance
Qualifications
* Health & Safety, Occupational Health, and EHS (Environment Health and Safety) skills
* Workplace Safety and Safety Training experience
* Previous experience completing Audits
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong leadership and people skills required
* Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
* Qualifications in Health and Safety or related field
* Experience in the agriculture or food industry is a plus
