We're seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to join our Business Information Governance (BIG) team in Dublin, Ireland. In this role, you'll work on exciting projects that combine distributed systems, event‑driven architecture and large‑scale infrastructure to solve complex content experience challenges.
This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on systems that are critical to Amazon's daily operations, touching every employee and business unit across the company.
Key job responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable distributed systems for content management infrastructure
Design and implement event‑driven architectures
Develop and maintain scalable data processing pipelines
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to architect solutions for content transformation
Contribute to the deprecation and migration of legacy systems while building next‑generation replacements
Participate in operational excellence initiatives, including on‑call rotations and system monitoring
Write clean, maintainable code with comprehensive testing and documentation
About the team
The Business Information Governance (BIG) team is a sub‑team of the Enterprise Engineering organization. We consist of System Development Engineers (SysDE), Software Development Engineers (SDE), Technical Program Managers (TPM), Product Managers Technical (PM‑T) and Software Development Manager (SDM). The mission of the Business Information Governance team is to empower application owners at Amazon to effectively govern their data, enabling the business to gain value from the content we store. This is done by providing guidance, mechanisms, and tooling to application owners, to ensure consistent and standardised handling of data across applications.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Experience with the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or equivalent
