Job Objectives
We are currently seeking applications from an experienced ADON interested in joining the expanding team within Nua Healthcare.
The ADON will be working with adults in a well-established Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit based in North Cork working alongside a diverse multidisciplinary team.
Main Duties
To ensure ICPs are up to date and that services are being always delivered to the highest possible quality and safety standards.
To be familiar with and adhere to the local safety statement (risk assessments and standard operating procedures).
To be familiar with and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
To use company IT systems as instructed and to never share passwords or cause unnecessary disclosure of company and personal data as defined under GDPR.
To act responsibly and to cooperate with regulators in the best interests of the service and its users.
To maintain the highest level of infection control standards as directed by policy and national guidance to protect safety, health, and welfare of staff, service users, and residents.
You will work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Professional Conduct and relevant guidelines.
You will be responsible for assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of care programmes and will support the nursing team to undertake this role.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans with patients and carers and other professionals to ensure needs are met.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide nursing assessment for patients admitted to the service.
Prepare for, participate in, and attend ward rounds and other multi-professional meetings, including tribunals, supporting the nursing team in this role.
Ensure a high standard of nursing in clinical procedures and treatments, including custody, storage, and administration of medicines.
Maintain a high standard of nursing care during procedures through supervision and instruction.
Ensure patients' rights are maintained and protected under the Mental Health Act.
Assist the Director of Nursing to ensure staff are aware of Individual Care Plans and objectives, and activities to be undertaken.
Complete supervision and appraisals of junior staff members.
Take charge of the Centre in the Director of Nursing's absence.
Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing, exercise leadership within the service to ensure strong organisation and communication within the nursing team and MDT.
Inform the Director of Nursing of professional issues as necessary in line with NMBI codes and support with initial investigations as necessary.
Partake in planning and preparation for Mental Health Commission visits and inspections.
Lead cross-agency collaboration to ensure effective communication across services.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Qualification
Registered on, or eligible to be on, the Psychiatric Division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Post-registration qualification in healthcare management (QQI Level 8 or higher) or working towards and/or equivalent; or a contractual undertaking to acquire within 3 years of appointment.
Knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of the Health Act 2007, The Mental Health Act 2001 and Mental Health Amendment Act 2018, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and all associated standards, regulations, and codes of practice.
Experience
A minimum of 5+ years post-qualification/registration Psychiatric nursing experience.
A minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in a management position within psychiatric nursing.
Skills
Ability to empathise with and understand the needs of others.
Strong desire to be one's best.
Excellent organisational skills, self-motivated, and a proactive approach.
Excellent verbal, written communication, and IT skills.
Willingness to work as part of a multi-departmental team.
Willingness to learn and adapt.
Dedicated, reliable, and flexible.
