The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will play a crucial role in providing individualised care based on patient-specific needs. This includes specialist gynaecology support, nursing knowledge, emotional support, and advice for women attending the Service. The CNS will also assist in improving standards of care and promote a seamless service within a multidisciplinary professional framework.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Maintaining awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all Hospital activities
* Providing clinical expertise, specialist advice, and support to women across the Nursing Services
* Ensuring evidence-based nursing care is maintained
* Complying with existing Hospital policies and procedures
Key Responsibilities include:
* Clinical Role: Providing specialist nursing service for gynaecology patients who require support and treatment through the continuum of care
* Patient Advocate Role: Communicating with patients, families, and friends, assessing needs, and providing relevant support information, education, and advice
* Educational Role: Acting as a resource and support to nursing staff caring for patients attending the Womens Health Service
* Audit & Research Role: Establishing and maintaining a register of patients with gynaecology care needs, participating in collaborative research projects, and contributing to nursing research
* Consultative Role: Providing leadership in clinical practice, acting as a resource and role model for best practice, and developing person-centred care pathways
Qualifications and Requirements:
Each candidate must possess:
* Registration in the General Division of the active Register held by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or entitlement to be so registered
* A minimum of 1 year post-registration full-time experience or an aggregate of 1 year full-time experience in the division of the register in which the application is being made
* A minimum of 1 year experience or aggregate of 1 year full-time experience in the specialist area of care to which they are applying
* A third-level qualification at not less than Level 9 or higher award that is relevant to the specialist area of care
* Clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated evidence of continuing learning and professional development
