Job Title: Preschool Manager
To oversee the daily operations of the preschool in accordance with Tusla regulations and relevant national frameworks including Aistear and Síolta, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and early childhood education are maintained. The Preschool Manager will lead and support staff, manage compliance, and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment for children aged [typically 2.5–5 years].
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management:Ensure the preschool complies with all relevant childcare legislation and regulations, including Tusla and Pobal requirements.
Manage day-to-day operations including scheduling, health and safety checks, and maintaining accurate records.
Maintain and update all policies and procedures in line with national childcare standards.
Staff Management:
Lead, supervise, and support the team of early years educators.
Conduct staff meetings, performance reviews, and identify professional development needs.
Ensure appropriate staff:child ratios are maintained at all times.
Curriculum & Pedagogy:
Oversee the implementation of a play-based, child-led curriculum in line with Aistear (Early Childhood Curriculum Framework) and Síolta (Quality Framework).
Support staff in planning and documenting observations, individual learning plans, and developmental reports.
Parent & Community Relations:
Maintain positive relationships with parents and families through regular communication and meetings.
Promote inclusive practices and support diversity within the setting.
Administration:Manage ECCE scheme enrolments, attendance tracking, and funding reports via the Early Years Hive.
Handle budgeting, purchasing, and inventory of supplies and equipment.
Ensure all required documentation (e.g. fire drills, accident reports, staff rosters) is up to date and accessible.
Requirements:Essential:
Minimum QQI Level 6 in Early Childhood Care and Education (Level 7 or 8 preferred).
At least 2 years' experience working in a preschool/early years setting, with supervisory or managerial experience.
Strong knowledge of Child Care Act 1991 (Early Years Services) Regulations 2016.
Knowledge and experience in Aistear, Síolta, and ECCE funding schemes.
Garda Vetting clearance.Current First Aid, Children First, and Manual Handling certifications.
Desirable:
QQI Level 7/8 in Early Childhood Education or Leadership.
Familiarity with Pobal, Tusla inspections, and Early Years Hive systems.
Leadership training or qualification.
Skills & Attributes:

A passion for early childhood education and child development.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
