Our client is an engineering and project management consultancy with offices based in North Cork. They are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor who will work alongside Senior Building Surveyors to fulfil surveys / inspections for residential and commercial clients throughout Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Review technical information (datasheets, drawings, specifications, conditions, consultations, etc.) to determine remedial solutions for live problems.
* Apply solid experience in residential and commercial construction and maintain broad knowledge of Building, Fire and Housing Regulations, including design, workmanship, specifications, and materials.
* Understand the Planning Development Act.
* Undertake site visits across Ireland and attend sites to aid in surveys.
* Deliver a range of high-standard reports, using initiative and a proactive approach to meet client deadlines and objectives; take pride and ownership in the quality of work delivered.
* Assist Staff, Managing and Associate Directors when required.
* Assess defects and compile expert reports for clients.
* Regularly review the status of tasks and chase outstanding information.
* Escalate matters where necessary in line with company and client requirements.
* Handle inbound/outbound calls, emails, and general technical enquiries from clients and other professional advisors.
* Ensure accurate records are maintained on company systems in accordance with defined procedures.
Requirements
* Third level qualification in Building Surveying, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Architecture.
* A full driving licence.
* A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role.
* A relevant degree in Building Surveying, Property, or construction-related discipline; candidates without this level of education may be considered if they can demonstrate suitable work experience and capability as deemed appropriate by management.
* Excellent communication skills – written, questioning, listening and verbal.
* Sound ICT skills with proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Knowledge of construction methods, materials and technology.
* Knowledge of construction and health and safety legislation.
* Understanding of best practice construction methodologies.
* Effective decision making and problem-solving skills; able to make sound and timely decisions using technical knowledge and experience.
* Self-starter, highly organised, and an efficient team player capable of planning and executing own workload with minimal supervision.
* Confident and articulate, able to work in a collaborative, client-facing environment and develop long-term client relationships.
* Develop strong working relationships with client personnel and other stakeholders; communicate professionally, manage expectations, and use feedback to improve service.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and seek help when needed; contribute to a positive team environment.
