Merchandising Manager Strategic Categories, Europe
Packaged Beverage & Age Restricted

THE ROLE
Department: European Merchandising
Reports to: Director Strategic Categories
The Merchandising team plays a crucial role in achieving the company's objectives by maximizing shop sales, profitability, and partnerships.
This position will develop strategic plans, foster manufacturer and vendor partnerships, collaborate with Business Units, and establish objectives to accelerate Packaged Beverage and Age Restricted categories. Working in close collaboration with Global Procurement, this position will also be the central coordinator of pan-European vendor negotiations, leading communications with Business Unit Category Management teams, ensuring execution of the merchandising strategy, and reporting on key updates as negotiations progress.
While the primary responsibilities are for age restricted and packaged beverage products, the merchandising team works as 'One Team' and the chosen applicant will be required to work on various projects across total merchandise from time to time.
This role requires providing ongoing financial updates, leading key strategic projects, executing merchandising/marketing plans, and working cross-functionally with internal teams and key suppliers. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as the candidate will need to present updates to Executive level management and all Business units regarding these categories.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
1. Lead and execute current projects within the financial year, ensuring all capital is spent and tracked timely, and ROI is achieved.
2. Develop strategies for assigned categories and collaborate with Business Units to incorporate best practices.
3. Provide guidance on global trends, internal and external best practices, and company performance objectives.
4. Update the business on key projects, year-end results, and business plans for the new financial year.
5. Coordinate pan-European vendor negotiations with all Business Units, in collaboration with Global Procurement.
6. Advise Business Units and Global Procurement on sales, new items, and contract opportunities.
7. Work cross-functionally with teams (private brand, data & analytics, procurement, marketing, etc.) to identify and address sales opportunities, emerging products, categories, and revenue sources.
8. Support team members on merchandise projects to achieve team goals.
9. Communicate effectively with Business unit VP, Directors, and Category Managers.
10. Lead and develop annual Category Summits for Europe, including content and presentation.
11. Enhance professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
12. Contribute to team efforts by achieving financial and key result area targets and developing presentations.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- Strong project management skills, including adherence to timelines and meeting management.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to facilitate teamwork across multiple business units.
- Strong analytical skills for synthesizing large data sets.
- Fact-based decision making and ability to leverage global strategies.
- Minimum of five years' experience in category management, merchandising, operations, or related fields.
- Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
